Love that idea! I think I need to take more shots out of my hotel rooms. It really gives a nice impression of the city – besides the glamour shots of the sights.

Thanks. Going to the window to see my view is the first thing I do at a place. Of course, many times, I’m looking at less pleasant sights than those in this post!

The sunset in Kauai is my fave of the lot.
I had exactly the same view looking out my B&B in Doolin. Then we followed it up with a stomach churning boat crossing to the Aran Islands.
I’ll have to remember to do more of these types of shots. Great idea.

I wish I’d been able to go to the Aran Islands when I was in Ireland. When I go, I’ll remember to take some Dramamine first.

so glad that my musings on views prompted you to post yours, Cathy. Congratulations on scoring some rooms with great views. I particularly like the river views, but was also blown away by the Paris apt. across from the church. Wow!

The Paris stay was almost like a dream — couldn’t believe I was actually in such a wonderful, old building in Paris looking at that amazing church across the street.

Thanks, Mary. There’s something about the sunset reflections on buildings that I really like. And the Kauai shot — that was one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed.

I take photos through hotel rooms, too (and hate it when I can’t open the windows). Usually there’s roof tops of a piazza. Your view in Kauai, though… wow!

This is a beautiful series, Cathy. If forced to do so, I’d pick the fourth image (Chicago), as my favourite. The verticals contrasted by the lines of traffic, and the light, make this a standout image!

Thank you! I liked that about the photo as well. Also, as I mentioned to another commenter, I like the moodiness of it. Since I’m originally from Chicago, it reminded me of going to work on rainy mornings in the city.

Great idea Cathy. The view from hotels give me this I don’t know what feeling. I have a photo I took from my hotel room in Shanghai and everytime I see it I feel like it transports me right there. Recently, I went to Vegas and part of the Strip was seen from the window. It was great to see the sunset from there.

What a great idea! We’ve had some great views over the years, but the best was probably in Ischia, a small island off the coast of Naples. We were on the top of this huge hill, and our loft overlooked the entire bay and famous castle. It was stunning!
