How did I get this concert shot?
Or this one of a beautiful bridge in the mountains at night?
Well, maybe you haven’t been fooled.
These photos and the ones following were taken at Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany where there are incredible miniature exhibits covering a space of 68,000 square feet.
The museum boasts having the “Largest Model Railway in the World” with 930 trains. More than 580,000 labor hours were spent on building the railway system.
This amazing model airport, Bayern Knuffingen, was just completed in May 2011. Here you can watch the jets taxi and take off, as well as the other busy activities on the tarmac and around the terminals.
The characters and situations seem endless in scenes of Scandinavia, Switzerland, Austria, the United States and the city of Hamburg. There is a tremendous amount of detail in every figure and component.
The models include over 335,000 lights, 215,000 figurines, 8,850 cars and 228,000 trees. There are plans to expand the exhibits even further.
Miniatur Wunderland is located in the Speicherstadt old warehouse district of Hamburg at Kehrwieder 2-4, Block D, along the Elbe River. Click on the link for more information.

Cool – a miniature village I’ve never heard of, and it’s in my neighbourhood (well, more or less). I esp. like that last photo, looks very real.

I love these kind of model museum!! There is one in Taiwan that I use to go to a lot when I was a child, it makes me want to play with it though XD (Had to hold back on the thought and not touch anything ~)

Wow, that’a amazing. Glad you told us because I was fooled until you said! I can’t imagine how many hours have gone into making the whole thing if just the model railway took so many hours.

Wow, totally amazing! I’d visit this place if I was going to Hamburg. Anyway, we have Legoland Malaysia which is set to open next year but I think this is way much more interesting.
