A Double Rainbow: Feel Lucky?

I did when I saw this double rainbow in South Dakota.

South Dakota

We were headed east on Interstate 90 on a rainy day when we first caught sight of the rainbow on the left side of the highway (photo below). Driving a bit further, we saw the double rainbow to our right and caught this shot.

There’s something about bales of hay that captures my attention, especially the round ones like those in the picture. To me, the lone bale in the foreground looks as though it’s always been there and will never go away.

Was there a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow? I don’t know, because we just kept on driving.

This is my submission for this week’s Travel Photo Thursday on the Budget Traveler’s Sandbox website.

I think I have seen more rainbows – double and otherwise – in New Zealand than anywhere else. I love the emptiness of the landscape in your photo too.

Glad you like the landscape in the shot — I really do, too. I think that that wide open spaces like that can be so beautiful.

I really do like rainbows. There is something so beautiful and peaceful about them. Just wish I could find that darn pot of gold! Then they would be perfect.

I think we’ve been looking for that same pot of gold! Maybe someday. In the meantime, at least we can enjoy the beauty of the rainbows.

I’d say you were lucky to get such a great rainbow shot! It does look like there is a pot of gold at the end. Probably a leprechaun too. On another note, have you seen the double rainbow guy on youtube? If not, you really should. Trust me. Just do a search on Youtube for “double rainbow guy”.

Hilarious! I’d say he was pretty excited to see that double rainbow 🙂 Imagine if he had seen a leprechaun, too. Thanks for the link!

Thanks very much, Nancie! In fact, it occurs to me that this is the 2nd rainbow photo that I’ve submitted for your Travel Photo Thursday!

Googled. Now I’m going to think about Dolly Parton whenever I see a rainbow. Here’s the quote, folks: “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” Thanks for the tip!

This is such a beautiful picture of a rainbow. As I look at that picture..that barrel of hey that is sitting there in the pasture looks like a pot of gold. If you look at it long enough.!..Does anyone else see it too?..Nice pic Cathy!

This is a gorgeous photo. There is something about this scenery that makes me feel calm and serene. If you don’t mind, I wouldn’t mind doing a painting of this scene – it is just so beautiful.

Nice picture in an otherwise empty plain of Dakota. The bale that you mention plus the double rainbow sure give us a great scenery. You can really never tell what mother nature can sometimes throw at us, we should at least be ready for our camera.
